Religious activity can clean up the outside, but only Jesus can change the heart. In this message, “Insufficient Sacrifices” from Hebrews 9:6–10, Pastor Ryan Skolrud explains how the Old Covenant priests, tabernacle, and continual sacrifices could never truly perfect the worshiper’s conscience, but were designed as a “parable” pointing forward to Christ’s once-for-all, transforming sacrifice.
You’ll see why access to God was so restricted under the first covenant, how Jesus tore the veil and opened the way into the true Most Holy Place, and why no human system—whether Old Testament ritual or modern religious performance—can replace coming directly to God through Jesus alone. This sermon will encourage you to move beyond external spirituality and into honest confession, genuine repentance, and bold confidence before the throne of grace. You’ll be invited to bring your hidden sins into the light, trust that Christ saves completely, and experience the cleansing and freedom promised in the new covenant.
Next Steps:
- I will confess my sins to God and to a friend.
- I will repent and submit my life to Jesus.
